Years ago, when I was in seventh grade, I was toldby someone you can't sing, and to a seventh grader those words were Gospel. In seventh grade you're going through the changes, you're insecure, you're worriedabout things. You don't think you can sing anyway. Then someone tells youyou can't sing. You're like, all right, I can't sing, andyet I love to sing, but from...

...seventh grade on I was done sing. Years later I was in college riding with a friend of mine and wehad that very conversation and I said to him I can't sing. What doyou mean? So I can't sing? He said everyone can sing as wellI was told in seventh he said everyone can sing. And work with mefor a few minutes and a vehicle taught me some things about singing just inthirty minutes and he built my confidence up and I felt I can sing aroundother people again. Used to sing in private, but I never felt comfortablesinging around other people until he shared that. That day was a great day inmy life because I love music and...

I love to sing and I feltI could seem in places other than the privacy of my own shower. Well, I admit, some of US obviously or less gifted than others. It'sdemonstrated in the American Idol William Hum when he tried to sing. I neverthelessrealize the truth. We can all sing. But more than that, through thatwhole experience, as I look back on him, I realized the powerof words. I was told in seventh grade you can't sing, and Ibelieve without any empirical evidence, without any substance, substantive evidence, I believedit because those words were spoken and I...

...realize the power of spoken words. For almost a decade I believed I couldn't see because of what someone told me. Then when someone else told me something different, I believed I could seepower of words. Words have power and it's a lesson that God would teachthe children of Israel are reading for today, as you know, is Deuteronomy TwentySix through twenty eight. We're getting near to the end of the bookof Deuteronomy, but in these chapters God deals with first fruits, he dealswith the tithes, he deals with the giving of the law from Mount Eviland he deals with blessings and curses. But I'm going to read Deuteronomy Twentysix versus one through teen. When you have entered the land the Lord yourGod is giving you as an inheritance and...

...have taken possession of it and settledin it, take some of the first fruits of all that you produced fromthe soul of the land the Lord your God is giving you and put thosefirst fruits in a basket. Then go to the place the Lord your Godwill choose as a dwelling for his name and say to the priests in officeat the time, I declare today to the Lord your God that I've cometo the land the Lord's war, to our ancestors to give us. Thepriest shall take the basket from your hands and set it down in front ofthe altar of the Lord your God. Then you shall declare before the Lordyour God my father was a wandering Aramidia, and he went down into Egypt witha few people and lived there and became a great nation, powerful andnumerous. But the Egyptians mistreated US and...

...made us suffer, subject of subjectingus to harsh labor. Then we cried out to the Lord, the Godof our ancestors, and the Lord heard our voices, saw our misery, toil and oppression. So the Lord brought us out of Egypt with a mightyhand and an outstretched arm, with great terror and with signs and wonders. He brought us to this place and give us this land, a land flowingwith milk and honey. And now I bring the first fruits of the soulthat you, Lord, have given me. Then place the Basque before the Lord, your God, bow down before this passage calls upon the Israelites notjust to bring their offerings, first fruits, the tides, but also recite verballyGod's protection and provision, to verbally...

...declare how God protected and how Godprovided. When they brought their offerings to God, they were to verbally audiblydeclare that the Egyptians had mistreated them, but they cried out to God andhe heard them delivered them with a mighty end and thus confess that even thebounty they now enjoy comes from the hand of God. God knows the powerof spoken words, so he tells the Israelites, when they come into theland, to bring in their offerings, their ties to God and, asthey presented to God, to verbally audibly declare how God has protected and providedfor. God is teaching his children the...

...power of words. I'm not aname and claim at person, as the teachings of job theologically destroy such gibberish. However, I do believe and know the power of words. I believein the power of verbally declaring God's promises, God's provision, God's protection. Infact, I'm going to do so right now, and as I doso, maybe you'll want to join the state these out loud. Isaiah fortythirty one. You can turn there after we get through this and you canverbally declare these things also. Those who...

...wait upon the Lord shall renew theirstreet and shall mount up with wings like evils. They shall run and notbe weird, they shall walk and never another promise. All, I todeclare Isaiah fifty four seventeen. No weapon that its form against us will prosper, and every time that accuses you and judgment, you will condemn this isthe heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their vindication is with me,declares the Lord Jeremiah Eleven, for I know the plans that I havefor you to clear's. The Lord plans for welfare and not for claiment,to give you a future and a hope. Philippians four nineteen, and my Godwill meet all your knees according to...

...the riches of his Lord. InChrist Jesus Romans a twenty eight, and we know that in all things Godworks for good to those who love him, those who have been called according tohis purpose. Proverbs three, five and six. Trust in the Lordwith all your heart and lean not on your own understanding and all your ways. Submit to him. He will make your past straight. Psalm one hundredand three, versus two, three five. Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your sins and useyour diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with loveand compassion. Satisfy as your desires with...

...good things, so that your youthis renewed like the eaves. These are just a few of the promises andtruth from God's word as I shared them. Some of you listen. Your spiritjust leaped in such and I tell you, if your verbally audibly declaresome of these things, your spirit will lead even more. Words have power. These are just a few which have sustained me throughout the years. Perhapstoday you might want to just look up some promises and out loud, verballydeclared them from God, knowing that such...

...has power. Audible verbal declaration haspower. Words have power. Speak God's word believing, declare it and live. What a great lesson God is teaching the children of Israel and God's teachingus even today. Don't just read God's word, listen. It's so importantto read God's words, so important to meditate on God's work, to memorize, but declare it, speak it. There's something about speaking it that wordshave power. So I want to encourage you. Find some promises from God'sword today and then, speaking, declare, allow God's power to perform. Well, are Reading For tomorrow is Deuteroni...

...twenty nine through thirty one, butI want to pray for us before we go bother. We thank you againfor the teaching from your word, all the way back and Deuteronomy. Howtimely. How who would have thought that in the second giving of the law, we're learning about the power of words. Yet you teach us such thank youfor being so tight, thank you for your word being timeless, thankyou for your word having power.
