Nocchio one of my favorite Disney movies. Is That Think About Pinocchio? Let me ask this question. What Do Pinocchio and the Bible Haveing Come? Wow, that's that's an odd question. Show in the story of Pinocchio and in Scripture we have a human becoming a...

...donkey. That's not sure about that. Where are you going on? Let me explain. In Pinocchio, the character one lamp wick becomes a donkey when he goes to pleasure island and obviously inherits it's curse coming a monkey, because that was a curse reserve for Naughty Little Boys, according to Pinocchio. But in the scripture text for today, we see a prophet who acts more like a donkey than the real donkey he was with. We're now in numbers, chapters, twenty one through twenty four. That was the reading for today and we saw on the reading the bronze snake. We see Baylet, Baalim and a donkey also on the reading, and that's kind of what I want to talk about today. I'm going to read from numbers twenty two versus twenty one...

...through thirty three. BYLAM got up in the morning, saddled his donkey and went with the Mobbi the fishes, but God was very angry when he went and the angel of the Lord stood in the road to impose him. Babel was riding on his donkey and there's two servants were with you. When the donkeys saw the angel of the Lord standing in the road with a drawn sword in his hand, it turned off the road into a field. Ballam beat it to get it back on the road. In the angel of the Lord stood the narrow path through the vineyards with walls on both eyes. When the donkeys all the angel of war, it press close to the wall, crushing Balain's foot against the wall. So you beat the donkey in you. The Angel of the Lord moved on my head and stood in a narrow place where there was no room to turn either to the right or to the left.

The donkeys all the angel of the Lord and laid down under bail, and he was angry and beat it with his staff. Then the Lord opened the donkey's mouth and it's said the bail what have I done to you to make you beat me these three times? And Bayam spoke back to us, donkey. He said you've made a fool of me. Phone me out. A sword in my hand, I would kill you right now. The donkeys said back to bail am, I not your donkey, but you've always written even to this day. Have I been in the habit of doing this to you? No, Balam said to his donkey. Then the Lord opened Balain's eyes and he saw the angel of the Lord standing in the road with a sword...

...drawn. So he balbow and fell face down. The Angel of the Lord asking why have you beaten your donkey these three times? I've come here to a posh you because your path is a reckless path. The donkey saw me turn away from me three times. That donkey had not turned away, I would certainly have killed you by now, but I want to spear your donkey. Balem is not necessarily a follower of God. He is a very spiritual saying. Who knows of God, fears God, speaks to God and as even used by God as a spokesperson, a prophet. But he's not a Jew and he's obviously flirting with the idea of following the Jewish God. However,...

...his family traditions, his Canaanite background, warves with this idea of following the Jewish God. Baalam. Struggle between trust in God and God's Word or enjoying the forbidden pleasures of this world is a real struggle. Some one say Amen. The struggle between trust in God, in God's word, are enjoying the pleasures of this world, the sinful pleasures, is a real struggle bay and desire filth. He tries to follow God and enjoy the sinful pleasures of this world. It is his desire to not go against God's word while still gaining the gold promised if he would but side step God's word. In the...

...end, he found he could not do both. Either he would trust God's Word and pursue obedience to that word, which is a war with the philosophies and pleasures of this world, or he would follow the gods of this world and forsake obedience to God's word. In this colorful of the end described in the pets, there is perhaps one of the greatest ironies and all the scripture. Babel's attitude toward his donkey is incredibly IRID. By the way. How if your animals started talking to you, that would be incredibly odd. I'm certain they thought, well, this is odd, but they was of their...

...spiritual sage. He understood God could speak through certain things, and so, even though it was I he entertained. So he spoke back and they carried on this conversation. However, this female donkey. Female donkeys were known as one of the most stubborn animals in all the world during that time, and here this donkey was being stubborn Pur sill at see. Ironically, when Babin's eyes and ears were finally opened, he realized it was not the female donkey that was the most stubborn animal in all the world. It was theyland. It was man that had become the most stubborn and that all the stubbornly trying to pursue the ways of this world while desiring to hold on to God's word...

...at the same time. It was not the donkey becoming progressively disobedient, where he went into a field and then crushed boild's goood and then she just lay down. What the donkey that was becoming progressively disobedient? It was natal. It was not the donkey who was consumed with self, it was Baul. My how blind we can be when we rebel against God's word, how blind we can be when we try to seek God's blessings and the world's pleasures at the same time. Sinful pleasures and blessings of God are mutually exclusive. When we refuse to admit that, then our blindness begins with a blurred comprehension of...

God's word. This blurriness leads to full blindness, the further down the road of worldly destruction we go. Soon we deceived ourselves into believing we'll right with God while living in seeing as a pasture. I've seen a lot like that, seem, a lot of people who started down that road and seeing with excuses as to why they could see him and why they could see him and why they could see him. And they want to hold on to God and they want to hold on to God's word and then want to keep coming to Sunday School of Church and claiming God's word all while there and seein and then they start questioning God's word in relation to their sin, and such questioning of God's word in relation to their seeing leaves him to question God's word in other...

...areas as well, and all of a sudden their comprehension of God's Word is just word. They can't see it. In fact, those who go down this path become the epitomy of blind stubbornness. In fact, they become spiritual donkeys. Don't be a donkey. Don't be a donkey, say pasture. How did I re afraid? How do I keep from me to know, trust God's word. Don't try to hold on the God's word and see him. You can't start become an a donkey. When you do that, let go of see him. Hold on to God's word, and then so do we enjoy the spiritual blessings that God gives us. But I hope you're continuing...

...to enjoy our reading through numbers are reading for tomorrow is numbers twenty five through twenty seven, but I don't want to pray for you before we go. Today. Father, we come to you again today. Thank you for this wonderful lesson through this man that you use, this man that you would use to speak to others, even though he didn't know you, even though he wanted to hold on to you. And at the same time in the world you still use and you use seem even today, still today speaking to us, a warning to not try to hold on to your word and the sinful pleasures of this world. Father, let us let go of those sinful pleasures. Let us hold on to you and your word. Let that be our soul in Jesus name. Thank you again for joining us today. I'll see...

...you tomorrow.
