All my bags are packed, I'm ready to go. I'm standing here outside your door. Hate to wake you up to say Good Bun, I'm leaving on a jet. Play. I used to sing that to my little girl every time before I would leave and I just have my bags packed and I'd sing that's on to her and...

...and one morning she said, Daddy, don't sing that anymore. Makes me sad. So I never sing that again because I didn't want to make her sad. But our lesson today. I want to talk about packing bags, being ready to go. Have you ever packed for an extended trip, a mission trip, a vacation of business trip? So of you have and some of you are packed days before you go. I mean you're prepared. You've got it bad. You're going on a mission trip and and almost a week before you leave, you've got everything ready. Others of you, and you know who I'm talking to, you wait till that very last day. In fact, you're packing hours before you leave for the airport, trying to make sure you got everything in there. But what about those of you who've had children, those of you who were packing for the hospitals day? How have...

...you waited for the last minute? Not many. You know why? Because you didn't know when the birth would take place, unless there was a schedule birth. You didn't know. The birth could come three weeks before the babies do, maybe two weeks after the babies do. You didn't know. So probably a month before, if you didn't have a set date, probably a month before you had everything packed so that when it was time, when it happened, you could get in the car and go. God tells the Children of Israel in the book of Exodus to have your bags pack. The Israelites were instructed to be ready to go in a moment's notice because it could happen...

...at any moment. They were instructed to pack in preparation to leave at a moment's notice. The place where they're currently were dwelling was not their home, a lesson for you and I to be prepared for our trip home. We're in the book of Axodus. Aksus. Chapter Eleven through thirteen was our reading for the day. We're in chapter twelve and I'll read verses one through eleven. Now, the Lord said to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, this month shall be the beginning of months for you. Starts the Jewish calendar. It is to be the first month of the year to you speak to all the congregation of Israel, saying on the tenth of this month they are each one to take a lamp for themselves according to their father's households, a lamb for each household. Now the household is too small for a lamb,...

...then he and his neighbor and nearest to his house are to take one according to the number of persons in Thel. According to what each man should eat. You are to divide the lamb. Your lamb shall be unblemished mail a year old. You may take it from the sheep or from the goat. You shall keep it until the fourteenth day of the same month, and then the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel is to kill it at twilight light. Moreover, they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two door post and on the lintel of their houses, wherein they will eat. They shall eat the flesh that same night, roasted with fire, and they shall eat it with unleavened bread and bitter herbs. Do not eat any of it raw or board at all with water, but rather roasted with fire, both its head and its legs, along with its entrails. And you shall not leave any over until morning, but whatever is left over until...

...morning you shall burn with fire. Now you shall eat it in this manner, with your loins girder, your sandals on your feet and your staff in your hand, ready to go, and you shall eat it in haste. It is the Lord's passing. There's a tendency to assume today is going to be like just any other day, just like yesterday, just like last week, just like last month. We wake up and go through our routine, switch we've gone through for a thousand days, and then we get the news. It devastates us. It's not a day like any other day. Something...

...drestic has occurred. We weren't ready for such a loss, such a change. So many times in life we are not prepared for the changes that come. The Israelites were about to embark on a journey that would totally change their lives from anything they and their forefathers had ever experienced before, and God wanted them to be ready. He wanted them to be prepared. The Passover celebration instituted in this chapter was to be a time for all succeeding generations to celebrate both the deliverance from bondage and their freedom with their God. And so God institutes this pass over. What a beautiful picture. By the way of God...

...that's going to bring death over the whole of the land as a judgment for sin. But those who, by faith, are trust in God are to take a pass over land and sacrifice this unblemished land and innocent lamb. And Theyre to sacrifice this lamb and sprinkle its blood over the door post and the top of the entrance of their home, symbolic that that blood is providing a covering over that home. And then, as the death angel passes through to bring about judgment of sin, he passes over those homes which are covered by the blood. What a beautiful picture of what Christ would do. Our CNS...

...condemning us to death and separation from God, but an innocent lamb of God would take our place and as that blood is sprinkled over the entrance of our heart, God passes over us. Beautiful, beautiful topology of what Christ would end up doing and in celebrating this day, the Israelites were and are to eat the pass over meal in traveling attire, ready to go, ready to leave. Here in Exodus, God was about to suddenly deliver them in a moment's notice. At night. Go, let's go, let smooth. He would deliver them before it became day. Pharaoh gets up and says let them go, get them out there to be gone. He wanted them prepared,...

...just says you and I. One day it'll suddenly happen. One day it'll happen that quick, in the twinkling of an eye, Jesus will return. Our bags need to be packed, we need to be ready to go. It's what he's teaching us, not only in exodus but also through the pages of the New Testament. This is not our home, we're just passing through. Don't get too attached. Make sure your bags are packed. You don't know when it's going to happen. It's going to happen soon. We don't know the day nor the hour, but Jesus will return, and you and I should be prepared to go living our lives as if Christ might come back today. He might. Just as events and occurred bringing sudden change in our...

...lives, so too will the return of Jesus Christ be sudden and our lives will be forever changed. I don't know about you, but I'm going to make sure all my bags were packed and I'm ready to go, because I'm going to be leaving. It's not going to be on a jet plan, it'll be on heavenly wings from glory and it won't be long. What a wonderful, wonderful lesson. Jesus may come back today. I hope you're ready and if you're not, get ready. Go ahead and get things ready, prepare living your day today as if it's your last day to live, because it just might be. Well, we continue to make our way through the book of Exodus. Tomorrow we're going to be an exodus chapter fourteen through seventeen. I Wan't encourage you to go ahead and read ahead on that, but...

...let me pray for us as we close today. Father, again we thank you for this amazing book. How powerful book of exits is, teaching US things that are very applicable today. A reminder through the lands of the Old Testament that just as you had the children of Israel ready to go at a moment's notice start their journey to the promised land, so too should we be ready to go start our journey for all we turn of. Father, help us to live, as if today's help me to we pray this for your glory and or Jesus. Thank you again for joining us. I'll see you tomorrow.
