Well, I'm eating a little bit of humble pie. Earlier this year I told someone now, let's cowboys, we're going to win it all. This year didn't even come close. So I'm eating some humble pie. Have...

...you ever done that? Have you ever spoken off and said something and only later come back and rely, though, shouldn't have said that when we eating a little humble piele no one. Yeah, we all do that. Athletes do it, though. Stand there before a game and they'll talk about how they're going to we end. They'll blur out something and then they end up losing badly and they've got that humble pie. Well, Joe Hey and such humble by, he had to eat some of his words. Are Reading for the days job eleven through thirteen and we're going to look specifically at job thirteen versus three through nineteen. So I'm going to read that and as I read that, I want you to think about the end of job. We're not there yet, but those of you who've read it before, I want you to think about it because we're going to be talking about some words that job will eventually be eating. But I would speak to the Old Almighty and I...

...desire to argue with God, to smear with lies. You are all worthless physicians speaking to his friends. Oh that you would completely be silent and they would become your wisdom. Please hear my argument and listen to the contentions of my lips. Well, you speak what is unjust for God and speak what is deceitful for him. Will you show partiality for God? Will you contend for God? Will it be well when he examined you, or will you to see them as one deceives the man? He will surely repute reprove you if you seek secretly show partiality. Well not, His Majesty terrify you and the dread of him following you. You memoriable sayings or proverbs of ashes. Your defenses are defenses of clay be silent before me so that I may speak.

Then let come home me what May. Why should I take my flesh in my tea and put my life in my hands? Though he slay me, I will open him. Nevertheless. I will argue my ways before him. This also will be myself an for a godless man. I may not come before his presence. Listen carefully to my speech and let my declaration feel your ears behold. Now I have prepared my case. I know I will be vindicated. Who will contend with me? For the end? I would be silent, and even not. Job is coming to realize that God doesn't fit in his box. God is not the Formula God Joe Thought. If...

I pray, if I see God's faith, if I am faithful to God, then God will bless me. Financially, God will bless me physically, God will bless me in this life. You and I ought not argue that. If we pray, read our Bible, go to church, give to God, obey scripture and live purely, then God will bless us physically, then God will bless us. Financially, then God will bless us in this world. Such would be a foolish foolish argument. Such foolishness stands and start contrast to the lives of job, Joseph, Daniel, Stephen, Isaiah and so many others. Such a small view of God is betrayed by reality. Job's friends, they still have God in a box. As job responds to...

...his friends to correct their God in a box view, he is speaking to God also and God is still remaining silent. From chapter to God's been silent. And Job's not just speaking to his friends, he speaking to God also, and God is still silent. Job Wants to speak directly with God and, by the way, he will get his wish, because listening to the if you do this, then God will do that dribble has become very tiresome for Joe. Don't ever do that. Don't ever say well, if you go to church in God will do this. God's not bound to do things. God's bound to bless us according to his word, as we faithfully obey his word. But he doesn't say how. He doesn't say if you do this, then by going to church, I'll bless you physically, I'll bless...

...you financial. The blessings may be far greater than such, and so don't go down that dribble that job's friends went now. But in job's desire for conversation with God, job invites God to accuse him of wrong. God will accept that challenge and he will do so. Job, seeing, as we'll see through the end of job, is that job question the goodness of God. Job, Seein, wasn't that he had done something evil. It wasn't that he in fact, we have no account of joke, seein, until the trial. And it's in the trial that job. Seein, job sends in the trial because he begins to question the goodness of God. God, how can you be good and let this happen to me? How dear we blasphing God by questioning his goodness. That's a sin. It's okay to say,...

God, I don't understand this, God. I wish I knew why this was happening. God, I'm struggling with why this is happening. It's not okay to say God, you're not good, to let this happen. That's blasphemous. God is good, he's always good. And there was job seeing job bequin began questioning in his temper tantrum and is trying to get God's attention he began saying, God, are you good? Surely a good God wouldn't allow this to happen. and therein was jobs seeing. While job doesn't deny God at any point, he does wrongly accuse God of being not good. And, by the way, when you get to job chapter thirty eight, as you read that, stop and think, is there anywhere else in scripture where you see God lectureing someone for that all? Is there anywhere else...

...in the scripture where you see God lecturing an individual for chapters? No. Job Recedes the longest lecture in all of scripture of anyone from God. The most righteous man on the face of the Earth at the time receives the longest lecture. Why? Because he questioned God's goodness. Don't ever question God's goodness. It's okay to say why, it's not okay to say, God, you're not being good to let this happen. Job's trial and heaven silence pushes job and his desire to get God's attention. He's to trying to risk it all. He's going to get God's attention. He says things he's going to regret. He's going to eat some humble pie because he says things he shouldn't say. He's trying to get that attention. You ever have a child do...

...that? They just act up in ways they shouldn't necked up because they're trying to get attention. That's what job is doing. When God does finally address job's questioning of his goodness, job's response is humble pie. It's humility. Job is still struggling with the fear he has become God's enemy somehow, and this just devastates him. He loves his God and can't imagine being the enemy of God. Such thoughts are emboldened by heaven silence. Joe, even in essence, says if God is right and I am wrong, then I promise to remain silent. Interestingly, when we get to the end of Joe, God is right, job is wrong and job is silent, just as he said he would be. He eats his words. He's spouted off in his...

...trial for attention and when God finally appears, job humbly eats his words. Don't ever, ever, ever, question God's goodness. I don't know what you're going through, I don't know what trials you're facing, but here's what I know. God is good, no matter what. And when we go through trials, it's okay to say God, I don't understand, I don't get it, but you're good. That's right to say something like that. You don't understand, and she and frail it. You don't get it. That's that human struggle. But you're good. That's faith. Always Know God is good. spurgeon once said, when I can't, when I cannot trace his hand, I'll trust his heart and we can do that very thing.

Well, our reading for tomorrow is job, chapter fourteen through seventeen, but before we go I want to bring father. We thank you again.
