WWWT dewberry BaptistClarksbridgecom good afternoon again and glad you'reback to join us we're making our way through the Bible and we began inGenesis, we're doing it chronologically and so we're in genesis right now, after genesis, we will move to Joe and then from job will come back to exodus, but we're in genesis we're finishing up. The book of Genesis are reading, fortoday's, you know is genesis forty seven through fifty, so let's kind ofwalk through what's occurredg so far...

...at the beginning of Genesis, of course,God grade the heavens in the earth, you have the creation, account genesiswanted to those accounts there, one a generalaccount an other one, specifically genesis to God's relationship with man.You have genesis three, the follow man. You Have Genesis, Ford Cane, an Abel.We have genesis five and six seven and eight moving into the flood genesis.Nine. After the flood, we get to genesis twelve and we have Abram andfrom Genesis twelve on as a story of Abraham Ind, his projety, so you haveAbraham and the Gods Covenant with Abraham, Abraham and Isaac. Abrahamsacrifice of Isaac Isaac, the Promised Child Having Jacob and e, saw thestruggle between Jacob and he saw got saving Jacob an becoming Israel himhaving twelve sons. The older sons are a group of themselling Joseph into bondage, and we get...

...to the end of Genesis. That's where weare ere in that's story of Joseph and so that kind of gives us an idea ofgenesis again Moses Rode Genesis somewhere around ohof fourteen fifty BC somewhere inthat area, but am with me today and shut gun nd.Shell hope you can recognize that we calledthis when I was growing up bird kill and that's what we did with it. Wewould go hunting and shoot Dov or shoot it up, but it reminds me of hunting. It makes me think of hunting, as Ithink of honting. I think about my dad, my dad when we were growing up on a fewoccasions. He would get us boys together and he'd say all right: We'regoing to go on a deer hunting trip,...

...and this was more just for him to spendtime with the boys. It wasn't for his enjoyment. Imagine him getting everything readyfor those deerunning trips and making sure everyone was safe, and all of thatwas a labor, so it wasn't for his enjoyment. Rather,it was for him spending time with us. You know all those trips I went with mydad. I never killed one dear, not one deer in all those times, but I loved them. It wasn't about the deer. It was aboutspending time. With that I took my oldest son hunting not long ago, anwent dear hunting, a friend tar at the Church said come on out I'll. Take youall out. It was my first time to take my oldest son, deer hunt and true tohis father. We didn't kill one digger,...

...it just didn't happen, but we had so much fun. In fact, afterspending two hours out, hunning and walking, he said Daddy, can we do thisagain? Didn't even see Ou Ther Daddy? Can we do it again because it wasspending time? That's not just about unny, that's fichy, throwing a football, taking a trip just about anything. It's not the journey, its who's on the journey with you awonderful lesson. We have here in Genesis, Chapter Forty, nine and I'mgoing to read: Genesis Forty nine versus twenty two through twenty six,Dr John Phillips, in his commentary on this passage, calls this the judgmentseat of Jacob, and it would be appointing to the judgment seet ofChrist when we would give an account to God for our lives but notics. First, twenty two Joseph, is a fruitful vine.

A fruitful vine near a spring whosebranches climb over a wall with bitterness archers attacked him. Theyshot at him with hostility, but his bow remained steady. His strong ARMD stayedlimber because the hand of the mighty one of Jacob because of the shepherd, the rock of Israel, because of your father's God who helpedyou because of the Almighty who blesses you with blessings of the sky, aboveblessings of the deep sprints below blessing of the breast and wo. Yourfather's blessings are great greater than the blessings of the ancientmounties than the bounty of the aged heels. Let all these rest on the headof Joseph on the brow of the Prince among his brothers, Jacob had assembled his sons outside ofhis room for what they were to receive from itsdeath bed. It was time for their...

...judgment. He was about to die and theywas bringing them on one by one, and he brings me in, and some of them arejudged for what they have done. In fact, the oldest Ruben, according to oldtestment law, was to receive a double blessing, a double portion of everything else.Everyone else received. He because he's the oldest was to receive a doubleportion, but he had secretly crept into hisfather's bedroom and in genesus chapter thirty, five and verse twenty two. Youcan go back and read it. He had slept with his father's Coccupie a wretchedness, a wretched wicked act, of which we have no record that he hadever repented. Perhaps he thought no one saw. Perhapshe thought no one knew. Perhaps he thought he had gotten away with. It then judgment they came...

...then he had to come and give an accountto his father for how he beaved and there in Genesis. Forty, nine andthe first few verses you can see Jacob Addressing Reuben and Jacob was a Rubenwas told that he would not excel verse. Four ofchapter, forty, nine! No, that the line of Reuben in the old testment produced no profits, no judges and no kings. What his dad said surely came to pass. His father's judgment was accuratebecause he had committed a sin, a wretched sin and he had never repentedof it, and now he would give an account. The next twob in line had broughtpublic. Shame on their father, they had killed an entire group of people inGenesis, chapter thirty, four, because their sister had been rad rather thangoing to their father and...

...getting things done correctly andpunishing the one who had seen they killed an entire group of people, allthe men in a group, a tribe of people and so again, because they broughtpublic shame on the name of their father. They were judged there ingenesis, forty nine, the tribes which would proceed from these two leve I andSimeon would be lost. Just as Jacob said now. It is interesting to see thatthe tribe of Lebi game back a place of honor because of their faithfulness inthe book of numbers, but the tribe of Simion, his lost. It was replaced byone of the half tribes of Joseph. You see this giving of an account tothe father at the end of their lives. I love doctor, John Phillips, and how Isays this is the judgment seat of Jacob,...

...pointing to the Judgment Sea of Christ, where we will give an account for ourlives. I imagine after Reuben came out aftersiming and Lemi came out that those gathered around were kind of worried. What's going to happen, they saw the distraug on Reuben's face. They saw thetears and sadness as Livi and Simeon come out. I'm sure they wonder. What's going tohappen, what's going to happen with us as we give an account for our lives,it's o remind when we stand before the judgment sceneof Jesus that we will give an account for allthe seends of which we haven't repented. I encourage you just at that thoughtright now, if there's a San in your life that you've not repented of justgo ahead and do it right now, God I ask you to forgive me of that sin I repetof it I'm no longer going that way. Im!...

Turning to you if you've ever brought shame on thename of Christ, would you just ask, forgive as God forgive me of that rightnow? What a beautiful lesson we see here, but you know what, as each brother went in, to receivetheir reward Joseph was waiting for his tur. I don't think Joseph was nervous at all. I don't think Joseph was outsideringing his hand. Thank you through okay. What have I done wrong? What do Ineed to be in op? What's going on? Am I going to be said to? I don't think that was the case at all.In fact, he knew he had been away from his father for a prolonged season oftime and he had longed to visit with hisfather. He knew he had been faithful to hisfather and faithful to his father's desires. He knew he had lived, the lifeof which his father could be proud, and rather than going in to receive areward which he did.

I think he was just anxious to spendtime with the father. I don't believe it was the rewardJoseph was waiting Oun. I believe it was time with the father. ImagineJoseph was looking forward to this day to have incredible fellowship with hisfather and Jacob was looking forward to it, also Jacob Getting to see thatfaithful child appears face to face and spending some time as it came beforethat Judgment Sea. So I ask myself: Do I long for thejudgment seat of Christ? Do you do I long to see it and visit withChrist? Knowing I have lived in such a way as to bring him on I do. I have things for which I need toforesay things, of which I need to ask forgiveness.

Are you longing for that day by the end of this devotion time to day?I hope we are all excited about our future with Jesus Christ. I hope we'reall excited about our time with our evenly father. You know, as I sharethis, I want to just encourage you to look forward to that time. I don't know that we'll be throwing afootball and heaven with hour father, I'm not sure that we'll be running upand down the streets playing tag with our father, but I do know this. I know there'll be some sweet.FELLOWSHIPI know, God has wanted to spend time with US face to thance and we sil look forward to thatGlorious Day when forever get to spend time with our father and our ward andSaviour Jesus Christ. Well, our reading for to morrow is Joe Chapters onethrough fourr and we're going to share...
