ABOUT THIS EPISODE

Welcome and thank you for joining ustoday. This is read your Bible devotional and we are reading through the Biblein a year. This ten to fifteen minute daily devotional with pastor Brad renaldswill keep your heart in mind in God's word. Welcome back and excited aboutour next study. As you know, we're in genesis chapter six through ninetoday in in the original language. When Genesis was written, written in Hebrew, there were no chapter divisions, there were no verse divisions. It allwas together, and genesis chapter six through nine was all together with the entirebook of Genesis. But for the Jews it would have been incorporated the storyof Noah, very powerful passage, and so that's where we are today fortomorrow's reading. Let me encourage you. Genesis Chapter Ten and eleven. Ihave with me today blanket. I have...

...some children and some of my childrenwhen they were younger, they had a security or safety or comfort blanket andthat blanket would go with them everywhere because that was their comfort, that wouldcomfort them. In fact, we have names for some blankets that are calledold comforters. Now, can you imagine this blanket bringing someone comfort and thenthe person saying I want to comfort the blanket. I'm going to comfort thecomforter. Well, of course not. That would be foolish. You don'tcomfort in adamant objects. But interestingly, in the text today, the onethat would bring Noah comfort was comforted by Noah. Noah comforted the comforter. It's an incredible passage that we see,...

...in fact, in Genesis, chaptersix, verse five. I'm going to begin reading. will read through verseaid. Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great on theearth and that every intent of the thoughts of Man's heart was only evil continually. The Lord was sorry that he had made man on the earth, andGod was grief in his heart. The Lord said, I will brought outman whom I have created from the face of the land, from man toanimals, to creeping things, the birds of the sky, for I amsorry that I've ever made them. But Noah bound favor in the eyes ofthe Lord. It's interesting. The name...

Noah itself means comfort the soul.Let's read it a different way. God is sorry that he had made them, but comfort bound favor in the eyes of Lord. Noah brought God comfort. The heart of God is not one that creates for the purpose of destruction. God created for good. God desired man to have a relationship with him, and it grieves God. It hurts God when man says in Genesis sixman thoughts evil continually and God's response to Man's evil heart is a wounded art. We hurt God by our seeing what...

...a loving and gracious God is.God just? Of course he is. Read Chapter Seven and eight. Yes, God is just, but God is Love, love and grace. Inthis chapter it's not as justice that's emphasized, it's as love and grace. Whata contrast. Man had continually evil intentions, but Noah, mankind asa whole was evil. But in contrast one man, Noah found grace inthe eyes of old. The rest of Chapter six highlights the amazing faith ofNoah, as Noah believed in God and believed in God's word, even thoughwhat God said seemed impossible. Noah still...

...believed at a time when God wasgrieved. Noah comforts are a great God. Noah walked with God, we seein this chapter. Do you know that term Wal is only been usedof Adam before the fall? Adam and even walked with God in the coolof the day and enith. Those are the only ones where the term walked. Noah had such an incredible relationship with God, and Noah's faith in obediencecomforted God's heart that was wounded because of man saying, Oh, how ourGod is grieve when we reject him, when we see how it must hurtthe heart of God when we see him. And yet that very same heart iscomforted when you and I trust him,...

...when we love him, when wewalk with John F Kennedy once said ask not what your country can dofor you, but what you can do for your country. JFK Rightly understood. Man Experiences life far more abundantly by giving that receive. Me It seemsmany today are asking God, what can you do for me, when weshould be saying, God, what can we do for you? How canwe comfort God? How can we bring him comfort by trusting and walking withhim? Sure, we receive the greatest benefit walking with love and life,God himself, but it brings the heart of God comfort when we choose byfaith to believe and walk with him,...

...and that's the beauty of this text. It highlights Noah comforting God, but don't forget that the far greater significanceof this text is God's salvation of Nollah. As amazing as Noah's faith is,the text is not sidetrack from the greater miracle of God's Gracious Salvation. In fact, the next few chapters, Chapter Seven and eight, will focuson this salvation of knowing his family through the art. And clearly the ARCis a typology, a pointing to Jesus Christ. The ARC saved man fromthe punishment of seeing. As one considers the art, there are a coupleof features that point to the person and work of Jesus Christ. Interestingly,in this art that God told Noah to...

...me there's only one door, there'snot any entrance in an exit, there's only one door, just one,and Jesus himself said that he is the door, he's the only way tosalvation. And, by the way, since there's not an exit door, once you get in you're it a great not once we're saved, we're sayingwe can exit God's salvation. He holds us in his end forever and ever. Another interesting fact of the art is that once it had done what itwas created to do, once it had completed its worth, it rested anotherportrait of Jesus Christ who, although never was created, as always been.Nevertheless, once he had completed his word,...

...he rested. What an amazing, amazing typology we find here of Jesus Christ. One final note to theflood incident. We remind us even more of God's love and grace. It'sinteresting that the same waters that brought destruction brought cleansing. Those same waters thatdestroyed also cleans God's creation. By destroying man's Seein, God cleansed his creation. What a great salvation. You and I am, as Christ took ourpunishment. That same flood of wrath cleansed us. Your sin is Gilt,my sin is gone by the wrath that was poured out on Jesus Christ. He took our sin and in so doing,...

...those waters of Wrath also brought cleansing. And you and I are clans where pure, where, maybe thereis a fountain filled with blood drawn from Emmanuel's things, and sinners plunge beneaththat flood lose all their guilty things. What a powerful, powerful passage.Praise thee under God and such an amazing God who's because of his goodness, because of his being, because of who he is, is worthy of mylife, my faith in my love and as I trust him, I ComfortHill even as he saves me. What an incredible, incredible passage had.Well, I'm excited as we continue through...

...this study of Genesis and the ReadingFor tomorrow, again as Genesis Chapter Ten and eleven, and I look forwardto seeing.
